MBNA Alumni Keep Company Spirit Alive through The Green Awning, a New Career and Networking Website
Wilmington, DE (PRWEB) March 21, 2006 --- Nearly 1,200 MBNA alumni have already pre-registered for The Green Awning (www.thegreenawning.com), an online networking site launched Friday to assist people who have left or are preparing to leave the Delaware-based credit card giant.
“MBNA was a special company because of the people who worked there,” said Richard Savona, who left MBNA/Bank of America on February 24 after 17 years to start the Website and pursue consulting opportunities. “The Green Awning will give us a place to keep the MBNA magic and spirit alive and actively support one another as we pursue new careers and business opportunities.”
Thousands of MBNA people have left the company in the last year through its voluntary severance and early retirement programs. Thousands more are expected to leave after the recent merger with Bank of America. Savona hopes to register 5,000 of these MBNA alumni on the site by the end of 2006.
“We expect the career center to be very active,” Savona said. “We have had a lot of interest from employers wanting to post jobs on the site in addition to alumni wanting to advertise their new start-ups. They know that when you hire an MBNA alum you are hiring someone who is absolutely dedicated to innovation, quality, efficiency, and Customer satisfaction.”
The Green Awning members first register their profiles and then can use the service to find other MBNA alumni, post and search for job openings, offer and retain services, and discuss business issues among other networking activities. An annual membership fee of $24.95 will be charged.
One of the only things the site won’t do is provide a place for people to bash their former employers. “The focus of the website will be positive, upbeat and supportive,” Savona said. “It is our belief that what we shared with each other for many years was special and could perhaps be one of the strongest affinity relationships of all.”
The Green Awning (www.thegreenawning.com) will support MBNA alumni throughout the United States, Canada, and potentially Europe (UK, Ireland and Spain). In the U.S., MBNA had major offices in Atlanta; Baltimore; Cleveland; Dallas; and Newark, New Jersey; and several offices in Delaware and Maine. The name of the Website refers to the familiar green awnings that decorated nearly every MBNA building since the company started in Delaware in 1982.
To advertise or post career opportunities on the site, call Rich Savona at (302) 45-GREEN (454-7336).
